The Meersburg is the oldest inhabited German castle, an attraction at Lake Constance and the landmark of the city. According to an old legend and tradition from the year 1548 the establishment of the impressive weir system goes back to the Merovingian King Dagobert 1st, in the 7th century. In the museum you can experience medieval times in 36 arranged and labelled rooms and also trace the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff.
